The Section on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law shall take as its province the development and practical working of the law relating to real property in all its aspects and to decedents' and trust estates and guardianships.
P.A. Bylaws, Article VI, Section 657
Greetings from the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. We are a friendly and welcoming group of attorneys devoted to our chosen areas of the law, and we want to meet, mentor and share our knowledge. We achieve this through our extremely active Listservs, our informative newsletter and our annual retreat.
Every RPPT member can select to be part of the Probate/Estates Listserv, the Real Property Listserv, or both. We encourage all members to read along and especially to ask and answer questions. I know I get many times my annual dues back in the help I’ve received from our colleagues on the Listservs.
At our summer retreats, we have the opportunity to meet in person and put faces to names. We have dynamic speakers and timely topics to earn your CLE credits, coupled by our unparalleled wine pairing dinner and other meals together, friendly competition and time to relax. We select interesting and affordable venues across the commonwealth, allowing our attendees to support Pennsylvania businesses while we visit new places.
I am sincerely grateful for being allowed to serve this year as chair of RPPT. On behalf of all our Section Council members, we welcome you as a member and promise to do everything we can to add value to your membership. All your RPPT Section leaders are available to interact with you and to help. The section we warmly refer to as “Death and Dirt” is very active in formulating or influencing pending legislation. If you have a legislative concern or know of statutes that should be addressed, please let us know.
Our section members have shown time and again their willingness to work together for the good of our profession and to help our clients and courts. Your active participation is what we crave. Please offer to write an article for our newsletter. We provide discounts to young and new lawyers attending our retreat. The section provides retreat registration for about the cost of the nine hours of CLE we offer, making the meals and relaxation virtually free.
When the call comes, please consider volunteering to serve on one of our committees, from publications, legislation review, and legislative initiatives, to membership, technology and education. Please share your questions and ideas. We look forward to meeting you soon, in person or on the Listservs.
