        PBA Workers’ Compensation Law Section to Honor Pittsburgh Attorney Barbara Holmes

        HARRISBURG (Aug. 7, 2019) — The Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Workers’ Compensation Law Section will present its Irvin Stander Memorial Award to Barbara E. Holmes, a partner at Blaufeld Schiller & Holmes LLP in Pittsburgh, during its annual fall meeting on Sept. 26-27 at the Hershey Lodge, Hershey.

        The award is named in honor of the late Judge Irvin Stander and is presented to an attorney whose dedication to the administration of workers’ compensation law, and whose professionalism and regard for clients and colleagues serves as an example to others.

        Holmes focuses her practice on representing injured workers in workers’ compensation claims and disability applicants in Social Security claims. Prior to joining Blaufeld Schiller & Holmes LLP in 1990, she spent six years practicing general litigation.

        A frequent speaker and author, Holmes has written and presented on workers’ compensation topics for numerous Pennsylvania Bar Institute resources and programs, as well as served as an instructor for the Workers’ Compensation Practicum at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She has also participated on a panel discussing top cases throughout the country at the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers annual meeting. 

        Holmes is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County bar associations. She is a former chair of the PBA Workers’ Comensation Law Section and past president of the Allegheny County Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section.

        Holmes graduated from Chatham University in 1980 and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1984.
